Are you looking for a new challenge in a buying role? If so, we have an exciting 10-12 week fixed-term opportunity for you to join our Home (Toys) buying team as Assistant Buyer!


Due to the location of our Home Buying Team we are searching for candidates looking for their next opportunity in London (Wigmore Street) with travel to our Brent Cross store.

We offer a salary of 30-35k p/a, dependant on experience. Please note that this is a fixed-term opportunity scheduled to run from 8th July for 10 – 12 weeks.


About the role


Our Assistant Buyers build and create a product range and balanced assortment which is inspirational, creative, and reflective of target customer profile across all channels.

You will have the opportunity to work autonomously, attending buying appointments where you edit and select, analysing performance and making recommendations based on this.


You will focus on in-season trading, regular reporting and conducting market research. People management is also a big focus of this role with a Buying Administrator direct report; you will lead, coach, and develop, setting them up for success at every opportunity!


Collaboration is key at Fenwick; our buying team work closely with our Retail; Digital and Merchandising teams ensure we have the strongest product edit available in store and online.


What we are looking for in a candidate…


  • A proven successful track record in buying at Buyer/Assistant Buyer level
  • Current/relevant product and market awareness with good knowledge of trends and social influencers
  • Confident attending and leading buying appointments with brands
  •  Brand building experience
  • Experience of coaching, developing, and leading a team
  • Developed communication, negotiating, influencing and relationship building skills
  • Able to manage time well to prioritise multiple workstreams
  • Good working knowledge of excel and Buying & Merchandising systems
  • Good numeracy and analytical skills
